This was the 25th year of the annual sale. It lasted from 1 to 4 PM. People packed the Civic Center buying the last of the books.
Today at the sale, people were given bags to fill with books for only $6 dollars and there was no limit on the amount of bags people could have.
So bookworms stuffed and shoved books strategically, buying more than they could carry.
Some brought their own wagons and carts. The library provided grocery carts for people to use to carry out the bags to their cars.
The Boy Scouts also helped volunteer carting and carrying books out.
Last year the public library raised $60,000 dollars and are hoping to exceed that amount this year.
All the money raised goes towards new programs for the library.
People were also able to buy DVDs, cassette tapes, CDs, and records along with books.
All the books that aren't bought will either go to Good Will or given to Dyess to send overseas for troopers to read.
