The Breckenridge Buckaroos are starting the Steve Freeman era, and they have their sights set on the playoffs.

Freeman comes to Breckenridge after 1 year as an assistant with Odessa Permian, but before that he had a successful stint as the Brownwood head coach, and before that he led the Hamlin program.

Freeman's job is to change the losing culture that has dominated the Buckaroos in recent years.

To that end, the Bucks drop from Class 3A to Class 2A this year. That fact alone would make most team believe they were going to get back to the playoffs, but the players on Freeman's team know they are going to have to work to make the postseason.

Breckenridge opens the 2010 season in Tuscola against Jim Ned.
