It was a normal day walking in at Ernie's Spanish Kitchen for one Breckenridge waitress, but at the end of the day, she walked out being called a local hero.
It was a normal day walking in at Ernie's Spanish Kitchen for one Breckenridge waitress, but at the end of the day, she walked out being called a local hero.

It was last Thursday when Jessica Harris, 26, was doing her normal duties when she noticed a customer seemed ill. Harris went over to the man with a trash bin, but she soon realized he was choking on his food instead.

According to Harris, everyone looked at her as if she may know what to do.

With quick thinking, Harris immediately sprung into action through a heimlich maneuver she's only seen performed once before. Harris saved the man's life, who was passing through Breckenridge to go to his lake house in Possum Kingdom.

Harris says she was offered a generous tip from the man and has been thanked immensely from his wife. Customers and employees say they feel at ease knowing who to call in case of an emergency.
