CALF, Texas High School Rodeo Finals Wrapped Up Saturday

Two events in Abilene wrapped over the weekend.
Despite the rocky start from the hail, the 3rd Annual Children's Art and Literacy Festival continued and ended its 3-day festival Saturday night.

A hailstorm may have hit after the parade Thursday night, but the last day of festivities ended with a dramatic reading of several books written by this year's featured guest, William Joyce.

Some books featured include Santa Calls and Dinosaur Bob. The readings were followed up with an egg hunt and a concert at the Paramount Theatre.

Also on Saturday, the Texas High School Rodeo Finals held their last performance Saturday afternoon with the top 15 contestants in each event.

Both men and women competed at the Taylor County Expo Center. At the end, the top four were chosen for the national high school rodeo which will take place in Wyoming late June.

An award presentation took place after the show. Around 670 kids participated in this year's competition.
