Two people were killed in a car crash four miles outside of Sweetwater Friday night.

Around 10:30 p.m., a truck hauling cattle was driving north on Highway 70. After coming down a large hill, Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden says the driver missed the curve at the bottom of the hill. The driver was traveling at an unsafe speed and went off the roadway to the east, through a guardrail and overturned, DPS says.

Brenda Tuck of Seguin, 55, was a passenger and died at the scene. The truck driver, David Tuck of Seguin, 54, was airlifted to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater after it took two hours to remove him from the truck. He later died at the hospital around 1:00 Saturday morning.

Alcohol is not believed to have played a factor in the crash.
