Cisco, Stamford, and May Are BCH Sports Teams of the Year

Cisco, Stamford, and May are the BCH Sports Teams of the Year.
Cisco, Stamford, and May are the BCH Sports Teams of the Year.

The Cisco Loboes are back in the state championship game for the 5th time in the Brent West era, and they are 1 of our Teams of the Year. The Loboes came into the 2013 season off a surprising early exit from the playoffs in 2012, and they were determined to fix that this year. The Loboes are undefeated heading to the title game and they are winning their games by an average of 51-12. 2nd team all-state quarterback Colton Kent is leading the team in rushing with 1800 yards and 27 touchdowns. He added almost 1800 yards passing and 27 touchdown passes. Head coach Brent West's team is just 1 win from a state championship.

The Stamford Bulldogs are back in Class A Division I state championship game for the 3rd year in a row, and they are the defending state champions. Head coach Wayne Hutchinson faced a bit of rebuilding project coming into 2013. Turns out they were just reloading. Bo Wimberly took over at quarterback for all-state quarterback Hagen Hutchinson and has over 3400 total yards and 55 touchdowns. James Washington is Wimberly's favorite target and the future Oklahoma State Cowboy has 68 receptions and 26 touchdowns. Basically, just another good year in Stamford.

Cisco and Stamford were expected to make a run at a state title, but the May Tigers surprised just about everybody this year in the 6-man world. The Tigers ran to 14 straight victories before falling to Crowell in the championship game on Saturday. May had to fight for just about every win they got this year. 8 of their games went the distance which is a little unusual for state finalist. This year's appearance in the title game is the 3rd in school history and 1st since 1986.
