Colorado Crash Kills Abilene Man, Injures Teen Son

According to Colorado State Patrol, an Abilene man died Friday night when his truck plunged off a dirt road into a high-country reservoir 49 miles northwest of Antonio Colorado.
According to Colorado State Patrol, an Abilene man died Friday night when his truck plunged off a dirt road into a high-country reservoir 49 miles northwest of Antonio Colorado.

Laylan Stapp, 37, was pronounced dead after recovery crews pulled the 2009 Ford F-250 from beneath 15 feet of water at Platoro Reservoir,

Stapp was driving the truck eastbound on Forest Service Road 250 when it lost control, went off the road and rolled down a 250-foot embankment into the water.

Damian Guevera, 17, also of Abilene, was a passenger and escaped the truck during the crash. He was taken to a Denver area hospital with serious injuries.

Five agencies assisted in the emergency and recovery response.
