Some halftime adjustments were a big part of Cooper's win over Lubbock Cooper last Friday night. The communication and relationships between the coaches and players were a big part of those adjustments taking hold.

Late in the first half the Cooper cougars found themselves in a back-and-forth battle with the Lubbock Coronado Mustangs a week ago. Then a touchdown by Lorenzo Joe gave the Cougars a seven point advantage at halftime.

That proved to be a pivotal time in the game for Cooper. As always the Cougars made adjustments at halftime, and this week they proved to be the difference, especially on defense.

One key part of those adjustments working for the Cougars is the communication and relationship between the plaeyers and coaches.

"You've got to have a high level of communication, even in the time when you come off the field after a change of possession, or whatever else, you may only have a minute or so, and you got to have good communication and a great relationship between a coach and player. We strive to do that. Even when they are in middle school, we strive to start building those relationships with those kids. Through those relationships and communication our guys able to go out and execute in the 2nd half," said head coach Todd Moebes.

The defense came back on the field for the second half, and shutout the Mustangs. That would propel the Cougars to their first district win of the season.

This week they will look for their second straight win against the Odessa High Bronchos at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa on Friday night.
