Cooper Defense Continues Improvement

The Cooper Cougars are back in the 3rd round of the high school football playoffs for the 5th time in the last 6 years.

The Cougars defense has given up more points in a season than any Cooper "D" in the history of the school, but they continue to make improvements as the year goes on.

What is the evidence? Against Lamar, the defense didn't give up a touchdown in the 4th quarter for just the 3rd time, and they forced 2 critical turnovers.

Coach Moebes said, "There were a couple of times there that I was really pleased with something that we haven't been able to do or be able to respond from this season. When Lamar did a great job of executing their onside kick, our defense went out there, after getting scored on the previous possession, and went 3 and out. That was huge. 3rd down late in the game, being able to get the interception by Nick Russell to kind of close the deal and seal the deal. I think that was tremendous. Just real proud of their efforts."

The Cougars will be tested by Cedar Hill on Saturday in Stephenville. Cedar Hill's only losses came to #1 Allen and #3 DeSoto.
