Cougars And Eagles Look Forward To Showdown

The series has been dominated by the Eagles, lately with 8 wins in the last 9 meetings.

Cooper's only win came in the last 9 tries came in 2010.

The rivalry is alive and well, and the players are looking forward meeting at Shotwell Stadium.

Jake McMillon says, "It's pretty crazy. There's a lot of hype around this game, there always is, but it's always fun."

Cooper's Josh Hale added, "This is gonna be one of those week's. Everybody's talking. Everybody's load, so it's one of those week's where we have to focus on what we got a do and get our work done."

The Eagles' Doug Wilson said, "They're all the same. I try to keep my mental preparation about the same through out every week. Like you said, we been playing with them since we were little kids, and it'll be fun playing with them 1 last time."

Cooper quarterback Lorenzo Joe says, "Of course it's fun. We've played against these guys since, what, Pop Warner, ever since we were little and up to middle school and now in high school, so it's fun to go up against these guys. You know, we have that friendship off the field, but when we get on the field, we have to set it aside and compete. When it's over, we have that friendship, again."

 Eagles offensive lineman Josh Hunter added, "The atmosphere in practice has been very focused. We have to focus hard. We are about to go up against these guys, long time rivals, so the focus has been great. Being in the hallways has been fun. Seeing everybody all dressed up silly. It's been a really cool week."

 Cougars Trey Dye says, "I like to think of it as it is just a game, but the fact that we are friends with so many of those kids, you always want to one up your friends. You want to be better than your friends, but we'll be friends off the field, but as soon as we step on the field that'll all go out the window, and it'll be game time."

The Cooper Cougars and the Abilene High Eagles meet at Shotwell Stadium on Friday night. The Eagles are fighting for the playoff lives. Cooper is trying to keep championship hopes alive. They kick at 7:30.
