The Cooper Cougars and Abilene High Eagles split the Crosstown Showdowns at Eagle Gym on Friday night.

Abilene High boys jumped out to an early lead, but the Cougars would be quick to respond. A bucket by Jairon Sanders would get the Coogs in front by a point early in the first quarter.

The Eagles would not be denied in the early going though. A bucket by Diamond Gary, and a lay-up by Calving McGee would help Abilene High take a lead in to the second quarter

They would continue to hold onto their advantage in the second quarter, but a bucket by the Coogs right before halftime would trim the Abilene High lead down to one at the break.

The Cougars would keep that momentum going into the second half, and eventually hold on for a 66-58 victory.

The girls game would be a different story. While the Lady Cougars would hang around in the first half, a hot shooting performance from behind the arch by Allison Stokes and the Lady Eagles would help build an AHS advantage.

The Lady Eagles would eventually cruise to a 68-50 victory at Eagle Gym.
