On Saturday, the firefighters held their annual chili cook-off to raise money that will be used toward the station. They charged eight dollars for adults and five dollars for children.
The current fire station has been there since the 1930's and will soon be occupied by EMS. The station cannot fit all the trucks between firefighters and EMS and are forced to store some in another location.
The new station will double its size and can fit ten trucks with a command center. The command center was put into plan after the fire that devastated the town in 2005. They also hope the new fire station will allow firefighters to live inside if needed.
Those who attended the chili cook-off also gave more than was asked of the, firefighters say.
