Downtown Abilene Hit Hard by Summer Storm

Cars, buildings and even people were impacted by yesterdays storm some local business owners share their stories.
Downtown Abilene was beat up pretty badly in yesterday's hail storm. Cypress street is still covered with broken glass, tree limbs, and debris.

Some buildings like the Wooten Hotel sustained damage to over 100 windows. The paramount theater suffered damage to their giant outdoor sign. Despite the fact the theater had between 200 and 300 people currently inside for a performance no injuries were reported. This was not the case down the street.

Some people had to seek refuge at McKay's bakery until paramedics could get to the scene. According to Amy Riley, McKay's manager, she could hear people screaming outside and quickly let them in only to realize most of them had head lacerations from the hail.

Almost everyone that has a car parked down town was impacted.
