The Mavs and Loboes entered Tuesday's match-up tied atop the district standings.
From the beginning it looked like a pitchers duel was about to unfold in Eastland. Mavericks pitcher Chris Howard got the game going with a strike-out of Colton Kent and kept the Loboes off the scoreboard in the first inning.
Mason Reed would have a strong outing for the Loboes as well. After getting a strike-out in the first inning, he would get some help from his battery-mate. Cole Scott would catch Zach Carlton trying to steal second and end the second inning with no score.
The Loboes would get out of the third with more solid defense after Reed got Matt Majors to hit into an inning ending double play.
The game would remain scoreless until the sixth inning. The Mavericks would bring home two unearned runs on one hit to take a 2-0 lead.
They would hold on from there to take the district lead with the 2-0 victory.
