"In the picture, I'm fatter than I think that I was at that time," said Brewer.
"I'm convinced now that if I hadn't started moving I'd probably by now, not be able to move hardly at all."
Since that picture was taken, Brewer has lost 70 lbs.
"Of course my son and Andrew, my trainer, have always been into fitness and one of the things they said to me was, you need to start exercising."
Her son Tim Smith is the owner of Firehouse Fitness. Smith opened the gym two years ago with the intent of helping people reach their goals, just like his mom has.
"Pam and I, my wife, live in the neighborhood, this building was vacant we would drive by everyday and just notice it was an ugly vacant building," Smith said.
"I got with a realtor and looked at the property and just started thinking of ideas and this is what it turned into."
Since FireHouse Fitness has been such a success, they are now able to expand.
"We were shooting for three hundred members the first year, but we wound up having double that. So, we felt very fortunate," said Pam Smith.
The Smiths say seeing people like Nita reach their weight loss goals reassures them that they're on the right track.
"I get up everyday and I want to be here," said Tim.
The new gym will be on Buffalo Gap and they hope to have things up and running by the Spring of 2015.
