As people filled the Display building at the Taylor County Expo Center, they stepped back into time. A time of groovy music and psychedelic clothing, the sixties.

The Garage Band Woodstock event held its 5th annual, welcoming anyone who loves listening to sixties music. The event was $15 dollars for pre-sale tickets and $20 dollars at the door. All the money goes directly towards Meals on Wheels in Abilene. Without the community none of this would be possible, said Cheryl Huey, a producer of the event.

The event was first started by two women, who's husband played in garage bands back in the sixties. From there the event grew, as the Abilene community wanted to reminisce on their high school days.

The event featured six bands and everyone was encouraged to dress up. One woman said that one of the musician sang Janis Joplin's songs so well that if you closed your eyes you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

The event lasted until midnight, as people danced the night away.
