The Harris Ratings were released today, ranking the top teams in the state.
The Cooper Cougars start the season ranked 15th in the state according to Harris. Quarterback Clayton Nicholas is back to lead the cougars offense after a great junior season.
The Abilene High Eagles shared the 2010 district championship with Cooper and they start the new season as the 18th ranked team in the state. Abilene High will be really young this year with up to 16 underclassmen in starting positions. But they are still expected to push Cooper for the District 3-5a title.
In class 3A The Snyder Tigers are the highest ranked 3-A team in the big country. Harris has the Tigers as the 11th best team in the state. Head coach chad rogers returns 6 offensive and 8 defensive starters from last year's regional quarterfinalist team. Keenan Ward leads the returners at quarterback... The Texas Tech commit picked up over 36-hundred total yards and 38 touchdowns.
The Brownood Lions come in ranked at number 17, despite losing several players to graduation after last year.In class 2-A Divison I Colorado city comes in at 13th , Breckenridge right behind them ranked 20th, And Merkel comes in ranked 22nd.
In Division 2, The Cisco Loboes missed the playoffs last year, But they start the 2011 season in the top 25, they will begin the season ranked 21st.
Goldthwaite is the highest ranked team in the Big Country in 1A. They start the year at number 3 in class A Division 1. Albany comes in behind them at 7th and The Stamford Bulldogs are 10th.
And Finally to class A division 2, Munday comes in at number 4. Hamlin is 11th in the state, And we finish with Roscoe at number 22.
