How to Prep Your Home for the Freezing Temperatures

With freezing weather upon us, there are a few steps that can save a lot of money and headaches when it comes to protecting your home.
Freezing temperatures are upon us and there are a few things you can do to help protect your home from the elements.

Owner of Midway Plumbing, David Ratliff, gave some expert advice for what homeowners can do to protect their homes. These steps are simple, but can save money and headaches in the long run.

The first step to protecting your home is to insulate anything exposed to the elements. Any pipes or outside faucets can freeze easily without proper insulation.

Next, it is important to remember to close your garage door and leave it closed as much as possible. It is vitally important to do so if you have a water heater, washer and dryer, or any other type of plumbing in the garage.

Even though it may seem simple, make sure to keep it as warm as possible inside your home. If you are traveling for the weekend, one of the worst things you can do is turn the heat down in your home.
Another tip is to make certain that your garden hoses are not connected to your house during these cold temperatures.
