Insurance companies have towed several hundred undriveable cars, all damaged in last week's hail storm, to a lot in north Abilene
Last Thursday's hail storm was one of the most devastating storms in modern Abilene history. Thousands of vehicles and buildings were heavily damaged or destroyed by hailstones up to the size of softballs.
Now, insurance companies have towed several hundred of those cars to an empty lot, where adjustors and other insurance personnel are going from car to car, inspecting each one, vacuuming broken glass, and covering busted windows.
Tow trucks and insurance personnel have been brought in from as far away as Dallas, Houston, and Albuquerque.
