In Light of Fort Hood, Dyess Responds to Questions About Base Security

Dyess has released a statement regarding base security and other preparations designed to prevent as well as respond to an active shooter event.
In light of the recent events at Fort Hood, we asked Dyess Air Force Base what procedures were in place in order to prevent, as well as respond to an active shooter event.

Dyess has issued the following statement regarding base security:

"Due to operational security concerns, we cannot disclose detailed information regarding the installation's defensive measures or force protection procedures.

However, we can confirm that base access is monitored and controlled at all times, as both a crime prevention and anti-terrorism measure, in order to protect the installation and its assets, particularly our most important resource, our people.

In addition, Dyess personnel do perform training and exercises to ensure our Airmen, employees, and their families are better prepared to respond to an active shooter situation."
