A stationary front and outflow boundaries from Wednesday afternoon storms will combine with heating on Thursday to produce another round of showers and thunderstorms in the Big Country. As we saw Tuesday, storms will tend to move slowly, therefore dropping heavy rainfall but in fairly isolated areas. Rainfall in Abilene on Tuesday varied across town, from only a Trace of rain reported on the south side of town at Wylie, to 1.81 inches of rain reported at the Fire Station #1 on Grape Street in north Abilene. At the Abilene Regional Airport, rainfall amounted to .27 of an inch. Storms much less likely by Friday on the Fourth of July, then dry weather expected this weekend. Highs near 92 Thursday, 93 Friday and 95 Saturday and Sunday.
