Increasing Clouds With Rain Coming Soon
Good Thursday morning, today we will stay dry with rain chances staying west of the Big Country. More moisture is moving in with dewpoints in the low 60’s and cloud cover moving in from the west. Today we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds, with thicker cloud cover west of Abilene. Again rain chances today will mainly be west of Sweetwater. Temperatures right now are near 70 degrees with a high muggy feel. Our winds are not quite as strong as they have been, right now sustained anywhere between 5 to 15, and that’s pretty much where they will be this afternoon, occasionally gusting up to 20 miles per hour. Our winds are coming out of the south in advance of our next rainmaker, set to move in this weekend. Today we’ll see more cloud cover in advance of the low with rain chances increasing as the low gets closer. We certainly have enough moisture to work with, however, as the rain pinwheels around the low you have to be at the right location to get a decent amount of rain. On Friday a few pieces of energy in advance of the low will spark off a few showers and thunderstorms beginning as early as lunchtime. A widespread severe weather outbreak is not expected at this time, but I can’t rule out the occasional strong storm with gusty winds and large hail. On Saturday the rain will be off and on again, favoring our northwestern counties. Same story both on Sunday and Monday. As the low slowly exits the Big Country our chance for rain will decrease with time. By Wednesday we should begin to clear out and temperatures will warm. Highs over the weekend will near 80 degrees with a high muggy feel.
