Leadership Abilene Looking for Applicants

Leadership Abilene is a Chamber of Commerce program designed to build knowledge on the community and grow participants leadership skills.
The Abilene Chamber of Commerce has begun accepting applications for Leadership Abilene 2015.

The Leadership Abilene program seeks to develop the leadership skills and community knowledge of participants via a series of informative sessions and leadership training.  Once a month from September through May, the class meets to learn about Abilene’s particular strengths and challenges. 

2014 marks the 35th year of the program.  Shaun Martin, with Junior Achievement of Abilene, will chair Leadership Abilene 2015.

-    Program began in 1979
-    Class size is limited to 32-34 - An anonymous selection committee reviews the applications and strives to balance class composition regarding industry, profession, vocation, gender, and ethnicity.
-    Application deadline is Friday, July 25, 2014
-    To graduate, class member must attend the Orientation session and at least six of the other eight sessions (seven of nine sessions total)
-    One-day sessions are generally scheduled between 7:30 am – 5:00 pm on the second Thursday of the month
-    Participants have typically been Abilene area residents for at least one year
-    Employer must support participation in the program
-    Program cost (Chamber member organizations $895 / non-member participants $1,095).  Cost includes overnight accommodations for orientation and a trip to Austin for state government day, transportation, meals, guest speakers, program materials and Class shirts
-    Tuition is due by September 5 - before Orientation session
