Local Man Nominated in National "Salute to Senior Service" Contest

One Abilene man has been a big part of the community for several years by volunteering at the Rose Park Senior Center and organizations throughout the city of Abilene.
Being a volunteer in the Big Country can be a busy task for any organization. But ask Leroy King what it means to him, and he'll tell you the past 20 years of volunteering have been a complete joy.

Aside from interacting with the folks of rose park senior citizen center, Leroy also spends his time counting all of the monetary donations taken for the center's lunches, and he it does right next to at least three of his fellow volunteers.

Whether it's day or night, both Leroy and wife will make it a priority to be involved with any social event that the senior citizen center is holding.

And now, Leroy is one of a few Big Country residents that have been nominated in a national contest for this year's Salute to Senior Service Award. A form of recognition that makes him feel greatly appreciated for putting in so much time each and every week.

You can now start voting for your favorite nominee in the Salute to Senior Service contest. The voting period will remain open for at least two weeks before it closes on April 30th.

Simply head over to their website to vote: www.salutetoseniorservice.com
