ABILENE, Texas -- The McMurry University women's basketball team welcomes Oklahoma Christian University to Ron Holmes Court at Kimbrell Arena Thursday evening, with tip set for 5:30 p.m.
OC has been playing well of late, reeling off four-straight wins (over Oklahoma Panhandle State, Newman, Texas A&M International and St. Mary's), as well as having won seven of its last 10 contests. The Lady Eagles (10-7, 6-4 Heartland) currently are perched in fifth place in the latest league standings.
A trio of OC players average in double-figure scoring, led by Roz Hamilton (11.3 p.p.g.), Sydney Hill (10.7 p.p.g.) and McKenzie Stanford (10.3 p.p.g.). Hamilton has also been a rebounding force for the Lady Eagles, pulling down 7.5 boards per game, while also registering a team-high 22 blocked shots. Hamilton ranks among the Heartland leaders in all three categories.
McMurry is looking to snap its current seven-game skid, during which it has lost so tough battles. Most recently, the War Hawks dropped a 65-63 decision at Rogers State University to cap a grueling road swing. Senior forward Keshia Collins continues to set the tone for McMurry, topping the team in scoring (17.1 p.p.g.), rebounds (6.6 r.p.g.), steals (2.7 s.p.g.) and assists (1.4 a.p.g.). Collins has tallied in double figures in 15 of McM's 17 games this season.
Sophomore Sierra Maykus and senior Tory Salazar - both guards - average 8.4 and 6.2 points per game. Ana Dominguez and Adijatu Disu check in at 5.6 and 5.0 p.p.g. Dominguez leads McMurry with 20 blocked shots.
Both games can be heard live locally on KSLI, 1280 AM with the pre-game show beginning 20 minutes ahead of the scheduled tip-off time. The games can also be heard via links on the War Hawks' web site at mcmurrysports.com
