The Mitchell County Hospital has confirmed a case of West Nile in the county.

Hospital officials say a man came to the hospital a few weeks ago with flu-like symptoms, and tests came back positive for West Nile. He has since been transferred to Hendrick Medical Center, where is recovering.

Nurses at the hospital say they have seen a few more people coming in with mosquito bites, worried that they might have the disease. Doctors and nurses remind locals that it is rare to contract West Nile, but it doesn't hurt to get it checked if you think you have it.
