Taylor County is currently in a Moderate to Severe drought stage. As the dry streak continues, the drought is getting worse.

According to Texas A&M Forest Service, if no heavy rain comes into the forest over the next couple of weeks, then Taylor County will move to the next severe drought stage.

The City of Abilene is also reminding everyone that stage one water restrictions still apply.

The water restrictions are based off of the lake levels below the spill way at lake Fort Phantom.

Currently, Lake Fort Phantom is 13 feet below the spill way. If the level reaches to 17 feet below the spill way then stage two water restrictions will be implemented.
