Mother And Autistic Son Come To Abilene To Share Their Story of Autism's Effects

Dr. Lynn Stansberry Brusnahan and Her Son Speak At The 10th Annual Autism Extravaganza.
Dr. Lynn Stansberry Brusnahan was a flight attendant before switching careers to dedicate her life to helping her autistic son. She went back to school to get her Ph.D in Urban Education with a focus in Exceptional Education. 

She and her son came to Abilene from Wisconsin for the 10th Annual Autism Extravaganza. They shared their stories about how autism affects them. Dr. Stansberry Brusnahan demonstrated interactive exercises and games to help autistic children. The audience of almost two hundred participated in learning through these methods. 

According to 'Autism Speaks,' 1 in every 88 children may be born with autism. In Taylor county, there are several facilities and resources that can help these children. Below is a list of websites that offer help to families affected by autism.
