The new bishop of San Angelo made a special appearance in Brown County over the weekend.

Bishop Michael Sis attended a service at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex Saturday afternoon. Even though it was an exciting day for many, it was special for one young lady who received her first communion and confirmation.

Bishop Sis came from Austin and says it's his first time in west Texas. As the new bishop of San Angelo, his diocese covers 29 counties from San Angelo to Midland.

He's been a bishop for a little over six months.  A priest said that he is the first Catholic bishop to go to Ron Jackson.

If you wish to volunteer at Ron Jackson you can call Barbara Arteaga, community relations coordinator, at 325-641-4240. Or email her at Barbara.arteaga@tjjd.texas.gov.
