Public Health District Hosts First EPHC Clinic, Provides Health Assistance

Women with no insurance or Medicaid were given the opportunity for a screening at the Abilene Taylor County Public Health District.
The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District is now offering Expanded Primary Health Care (EPHC) for women with no health insurance or Medicaid.

On Saturday, they held their first open clinic event to screen women for the program. Those who attended also saw a clinician and received health information. Anyone that qualifies can receive expanded health services from mammograms to diabetes management.

Community service outreach workers have been working to promote this event for the past two months. Turqoise Pipes, an outreach workers, says the event was a huge success

"So happy to see women in our community know about the program, come in and get the service that we provide here," says Pipes.

The event was held from 10:00 am to 4:00 am for women ages 18 and up.
