The starting quarterback first started showing signs of an injury on Sunday against the Washington Redskins, but still led the Cowboys to a game winning drive. The 24-23 outcome would keep the Cowboys season alive, and set up a game to decide the NFC East on Sunday.
Early reports at the time said Romo would be evaluated for the injury after the team returned to Dallas.
Then on Monday afternoon ESPN's Adam Schefter was first to report Romo would miss the rest of the season with a back injury. Other reports started surfacing soon after, including one from ESPN's Chris Mortensen that Romo would need surgery on a herniated disk.
A short time after the first reports started surfacing Jason Garrett held his weekly press conference, but denied Romo was ruled out for the season. Instead, Garrett said Romo was undergoing treatment and the team would take it "day-by-day" for the rest of the week.
Garrett also said the team would sign another quarterback for practice purposes this week as the team prepares for the Eagles.
