We've all heard the saying, "you're as young as you feel," but for one Abilene man who's celebrating his 101st birthday it's more than just a common phrase.
It's not everyday you meet someone who can share a century worth of memories, but for 100-year-old Howard Smith, age is nothing but a number. Mr. Smith is a down to earth country boy who's banking career even led him to serving in the army for 3 & 1/2 years. He worked on payroll for troops overseas in nearly a dozen countries. Mr. Smith is turning 101 this week, and his age has in no way slowed him down. Mr. Smith even has his own Facebook account to stay connected. Mr. Smith says the secret to his long and youthful life is clean living, he's never drank or smoked. He will be celebrating his 101st birthday this Friday, August 23.
