One Abilene man has been a big part of the community for several years with organizations such as meals on wheels and even helping out Big Country residents. In return, he has been entered into a national contest put on by Home Instead's "Salute to Senior Services".

It's not every day you find people who go out of their way to serve others, but for Don Denny, it's simply second nature. He spends at least an hour each day delivering hot lunches to folks all across Abilene, but it's not just humans who receive some delicious treats from Denny. That's because Denny also brings extra goodies on his route for mans best friend. A simple gesture that many meal recipients are grateful for.

Don is one of a few Big Country residents that have been nominated in a national contest for this year's "Salute to Senior Service" award, and Denny felt even more overwhelmed when he found out the nomination came from his daughter.

Denny retired from the Air Force after serving for 27 years, but it means everything to him to now be a part of organizations like Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and even the Veterans Association Services. A service Denny provides from the kindness of his heart.
