Seniors and Coaches Key to Albany's Success

The Albany Lions over the past few years have been one of the most consistent programs when it comes to winning in the Big Country.

Since 2004 the Lions won 107 games, and at the same time only sustained 22 losses. That success has led Albany to numerous district titles, and playoff appearances.

There are lots of reasons a program like Albany has consistent success, and one of them is senior leadership.

"A lot of seniors have come up this year, and proven themselves. Sophomores have moved up and they've proven themselves as well. So, I think we'll have a good successful season," said senior Lewis Kelly.

At the same time the players quickly say their coaches are also a big reason for the program's success.

"I think a lot of our success comes from how the coaches coach us. They do a great job of bringing players in, moving them around, and finding their best spot," said Kelly.

Regardless the Lions continue to put up wins, and for coach Denny Faith's program it is what the kids expect to do in Albany.

"We have been there, and these kids expect to be there. I think when the kids coming through the program start thinking that's the way it's supposed to be, that's a lot of the battle," said Faith.

This week the Lions will look to add another win, but this time on the road against Jim Ned on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
