Slow Day For Fireworks Sales

While it's not 4th of July, the sale of fireworks is very much normal this time of year. But for one of two stands open today, business wasn't booming.
New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are two holidays on which most people aren't surprised to hear fireworks. But mostly everyone who lives in Abilene knows that the use of fireworks is prohibited, no matter the day, within city limits. The law doesn't extend outside city limits, though. With that in mind, two of a handful of fireworks stands in Abilene were opened today. And as expected, few sales were made and business wasn't booming as it would be on a holiday like the 4th of July. But for those who did stop by Mr. W's Fireworks stand to stock up before tomorrow, there's a new law in the city's fireworks regulations that they should know about.
