To stay healthy, the Center of Disease Control and Prevention has a few tips.
-Keep vaccinations up to date.
It is helpful to have your shot records in order to know when you had a shot last.
-Stick to bottled drinks.
Make sure to avoid ice as water can be unclean.
-Watch what you eat.
Fresh fruits and vegetables may harbor germs and insects. Eating unclean foods can cause diarrhea and other unpleasant symptoms.
-Protect against pests.
Mosquito borne illnesses are common. Carry strong mosquito repellent such as one that has Deet.
-Be aware of your surroundings.
Animals are cute, but if you are bitten or scratched by an animal with a disease like rabies, it could be given to you. Avoid swimming holes that are unfamiliar; they could carry deadly parasites.
-Bring extra medications.
If you take medications, make sure to have an ample supply. Counterfeit drugs are common overseas and if you run out of pills it's tough to predict what kinds of medication you will get if you try to replace them while in anther country.
