Sticker Shocking Abilene to Prevent Underage Drinking

The Abilene Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse is placing bright yellow stickers to remind people not to provide alcohol to minors.
The next time you are out purchasing alcohol, you may notice a big, bright, yellow sticker on a case of beer.

This week, the Abilene Regional Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse is putting these stickers on cases of beer to remind people that you could be fined $4,000.00 for providing alcohol to minors.

According to a survey that ARCADA does, 44% of students admitted to being underage drinkers and ARCADA wants to try and prevent that statistic from rising.

Many local liquor stores such as Big Johnson's Liquor and Beer spoke to KRBC's Dayne Marae and said they are joining in on the efforts and placing the stickers on a lot more products than just beer.

You can find the sticker covered cases at United Super Markets, many local convenience stores and of course Big Johnson's Liquor and Beer.

They will continue placing stickers throughout this week and then place more stickers near high school graduation.
