Two separate fires in Abilene today destroyed the homes of two families, and damages neighboring homes. But despite that, everyone involved say they're just thankful no one was hurt.
With the strong wind and dry grass, firefighters found it difficult to gain control of fires that sparked at two Abilene homes this afternoon. One of the homes was destroyed and the other will require extensive repair before the family can return. When we talked to the owners of both homes, they agreed on two things: how thankful they were for the fast response of neighbors and how thankful they are that no one was hurt in the fires.
