Fandangle is Texas’ Oldest Outdoor Musical
Covered wagons and buggies, a replica of the first Texas Central railroad
train, galloping prairie fires, a frontier town street, gushing oil
derricks, more than 300 performers-the Fandangle recaptures with
theatrical charm the look and feel of the old West.
The Fandangle is spectacle. The stagecoach rumbles behind its team across
pastureland passed by the Butterfield Overland Mail. Cowboys whose
ancestors pushed Longhorn herds up the nearby Western Trail relive that
period as they drive descendants of the cattle through the Fandangle
spotlights. It fuses past and present as ranch country heritage is
unlocked from the dusty trunk of memory, polished bright and transformed
into enchanting entertainment.
The Fort Griffin Fandangle is a show that the people of Albany and beyond
present beneath the summer stars of the Texas sky for six nights of the
last two weekends of June. With singing, dancing, pantomime, and
pageantry, it recreates the look and feel of the Texas Frontier west of
Fort Worth. Relive the story of the Indians who inhabited the prairie, the
early white men who displaced them, and the many settlers who followed the
call to settle this land.
