The Lifestyles Of Local Minimum Wage Workers

The Rate Of Minimum Wage In Texas Is $7.25 An Hour, Many Are Barely Getting By On It.
In the United States, 4.8 million workers are making the lowest legal pay of minimum wage. Those jobs the millions of workers have are not just your stereotypical high school or summer jobs. Many people earning this have families, high responsibilities and monthly living expenses. The average age of a person making minimum is 35-years-old.

The rate of minimum wage in the state of Texas is $7.25 an hour. For one local single mother, she says she struggles two days after getting paid. She's barely making it working as a housekeeper getting about 35 hours a week and making $430 every two weeks. For a local restaurant host, she gets by on a strict budget.

President Obama has proposed to raise minimum wage to $10.10 by 2016.
