UPDATE: Bonds Set for Abilene Murder Suspect

The Abilene Police Department was called out to the 400 block of Portland Avenue for a shooting.

Update 9:00 p.m. (6/16/14):
The bonds for murder suspect, Randy Vialpando, have been set at a total of  $230,000. The bond for his wife, Randi Vialpando, has been set at $3,500.

At 6:42 pm on June 13th, 2014, Abilene Police Department Dispatch received a 911 call of a disturbance at a residence in the 400 block of Portland. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered a deceased Hispanic male inside the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. He was later identified as Hijinio Estevan Moreno, age 40.


Detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit, Special Victims Unit, and Forensics were called to the scene. The investigation resulted in the arrest of the suspect, Randy Vialpando, age 30. Vialpando drove to the residence on Portland and found his wife at the victim's residence. Vialpando forced entry into the residence and fired multiple gunshots killing Moreno.


The suspect fled the scene and was located during a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Danville at approximately 12:30 am on the 14th.


A subsequent search of the suspect's residence also revealed a state jail felony level marijuana lab on his property and a state jail felony level of ecstasy.


Vialpando was arrested and charged with Capital Murder as he the murder occurred in the course of committing another felony (Burglary with Intent to Commit Assault). The Burglary w/Intent element took place when the suspect forced entry into the victim's residence. He was also charged with state jail felony possession of marijuana and state jail felony level possession of ecstasy. His bond has not yet been set.


Vialpando's wife, Randi Vialpando (age 29), was also arrested and charged with state jail felony possession of marijuana. Her bond has not been set. Other charges against her are possible pending the outcome of the investigation.




Update 1:05 p.m. (6/14/14):


Police have identified Hijinio Estevan Moreno, 40, as the victim found shot to death inside the home in the 400 block of Portland Friday night. Detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit, Special Victims Unit, and Forensics were all called to the scene.

Upon arrival, police officers found Moreno with multiple gunshot wounds. Police have arrested Randy Vialpando, 30, as the suspect in the shooting. According to police, Vialpando drove to the home on Portland and found his wife inside the victim's home. Vialpando reportedly forced entry and fire multiple shots at Moreno and killed him.

Police say Vialpando fled the scene and was later found during a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Danville early Saturday morning.

Police searched the Vialpando's residence and found a state jail felony level marijuana lab on his property and a state jail felony level of ecstasy.

Vialpando has been charged with capital murder since the crime occurred while committing burglary with intent to commit assault. He's also been charged with state jail felony possession of marijuana and state jail felony level possession of ecstasy.

Vialpando's wife was also arrested and charged with state jail felony possession of marijuana. Both husband and wife's bonds have not been sent.

The case is still under investigation.


ORIGINAL STORY

The Abilene Police Department was called out to the 400 block of Portland Avenue for a shooting.

They have a section of the road blocked off while they investigate.

APD says a Hispanic male was found dead with a gunshot wound inside a home on Portland. There is evidence of a struggle.

There is no suspect right now, but police are following leads.

Police were originally called to a disturbance at the house, but found the victim dead.
