The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified Christopher Matthew Crane, 24, of Tuscola as the victim killed in the two-vehicle wreck just south of Abilene Friday night.
Crane was traveling northbound on FM 89 around 6 p.m. when he drifted into oncoming traffic, DPS said. The Ford Focus he was driving in collided with an SUV traveling southbound, causing him to spin counter clockwise and resting on the east shoulder of the road.
The driver of the SUV, Kevin Arthur Smith of Abilene, overcorrected and caused the vehicle to roll over. Smith and his passenger were taken to Hendrick Medical Center where they were later treated and released.
Crane was pronounced dead by Judge McAuliffe at around 7:30 p.m.
All parties involved were wearing a seat belt.
One person has died and two are in the hospital after a two vehicle crash on FM 89 South of 707. It happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday evening.
According to a Trooper on scene, a car was driving north bound while a SUV was driving southbound, the car drifted into the southbound lane leading to the wreck.
The roadway is currently closed in both directions.
Investigation is ongoing.
