Around 2:00PM on Sunday a massive wild fire broke out in Taylor County on County Road 282. The fire started on the west side of the rail road tracks along Summit Ave in Buffalo Gap.

Twenty homes were evacuated along county road 330 and Country Place South subdivision was on edge for most of the evening, wondering if they would have to leave their homes as well.

Law enforcement drove up and down the street warning people that there was a possibility they would have to evacuate their homes.

Many people started loading up their trunks with items they would want to save. Some people took photos and jewelry, while others made sure their animals were safe.

The road into the subdivision was closed off in case there was a need for a fire truck.

One fire truck and several fire fighters did go to the subdivision, to check on the smoke and winds. In certain areas the fire did start back up again.

Some residents did leave voluntarily just in case anything changed.

Fire fighters will continue to work through the night on the fire.
