The ACU Basketball teams are getting ready to finish up their 1st season in NCAA Division I competition.

The ACU women were the most successful of the two.

Julie Goodenough's Wildcats are 17-12 this year with 7 wins against Southland Conference teams.

The men's record is not as good with 11 wins in 30 games and just two in the conference.

All in all, the 1st year was a great experience for both teams.

Julie Goodenough said "I've been really proud of our players. The way they've embraced being the first division one women's basketball team at ACU. They have fought great battles this year, they've faced some pretty big opponents and never backed down."

Renata Marquez said "It's been a really good learning experience. Like coach said, this is my first time in DI, so it's like a freshman year again. I've been blessed to be on this team, and the girls that have come here, they just made this season really exciting for me."

Parker Wentz said "A lot of ups and downs. You play team like Maryland and Iowa and you see ths big stage, and then you play other teams. It's just taught me to come and bring it every game no matter who you're playing."

The Wildcats host Incarnate Word at Moody Coliseum on Saturday. The women start at 1:00. The men will follow at 3:00.
