Wounded Soldier and Family Receive New Home In Abilene

The Texas Sentinel Foundation has chosen Michael Burns and his family to be recipients of a brand new home.
Staff Sergeant Michael Burns served three terms in the Army within Iraq and Afghanistan. During that time, he suffered severe injuries to his leg causing permanent damage and possible amputation.

The Texas Sentinel Foundation has chosen Burns and his family to be recipients of a brand new home. Through a process of applications, interviews and in-person meetings, the foundation decided that the Burns were a perfect choice.

The Burns moved their life to Abilene from Arizona and were greeted with open arms.

The community has held several fundraisers through local restaurants and businesses in Abilene. Their most recent event was at Fuzzy's Tacos where 10% of the day's sales went to the cost of building their new home.

The Abilene Association of Realtors, The Abilene Home Builders Association and several other local agencies have assisted The Texas Sentinel Foundation in helping the family.
