Eagles Are Eager To Start District Play

The Abilene High Eagles didn't get a win in non-district play this season, but that's not a problem because you don't go to the playoffs based on non-district results.
The Abilene High Eagles didn't get a win in non-district play this season, but that's not a problem because you don't go to the playoffs based on non-district results.

The real season starts this week for the Eagles.

They say they are a better team than they were 2 weeks ago, and they are ready to get their 1st win.

AHS junior defensive back Reese Childress said "I think we're very hungry. We had a good week of preparation, and I think it's just going to help us if we get this first win under our belt and that will be good for the team and everyone's motivation will be up and everyone will have a good next week."

AHS junior receiver Peyton Coffman said "I think Hebron and Duncanville were a really tough test and I think it's a very good marker on how our season's going to go. Not getting false statements of how good we are  or how good we aren't. They're a pretty good team so it's pretty good competition."

The Eagles open District 2-5A play on Friday night at 7:30. Amarillo Tascosa is the opponent. They enter the game with a 1 and 1 record.
