Eagles 'One Win' Away' From Turnaround

The pressure is increasing on the Abilene High Eagles after a tough district loss to rival Cooper last Friday night. That means every game is becoming a must win for the Eagles.
The pressure is increasing on the Abilene High Eagles after a tough district loss to rival Cooper last Friday night. That means every game is becoming a must win for the Eagles.

At the same time, the Eagles are by no means out of the playoff race. Despite having a 1-3 record in district thus far, Abilene High remains just two games back of Midland High for the final playoff spot.

That is with a match-up against the Bulldogs a couple weeks down the road.

This week will be a different test with 3-0 Midland Lee coming to Shotwell, but head coach Steve Warren remains confident in his team's ability to right the ship.

Coach Warren said, "We still feel good about our football team. We tell them that every single day. We are 1 win away from (ending) this gloom and doom that goes on whenever you lose 2 or 3 in a row. This is unchartered territory for us. It's been 15 years since we've had this feeling, and we need to fix it. It starts with me and the attitude. I am just trying to remain as positive and up beat as I always am. That has not changed and that's going to change."

The Eagles and Rebels will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night at Shotwell Stadium.
