Coming into the game the Badgers trailed the Mavericks by one game in the standings, and held the tiebreaker over Eastland.

Merkel got off to a good start in the first inning when catcher Jonathan Richardson crossed home plate for the first run of the game.

At that point the Badgers took at 1-0 lead, but Eastland was able to keep them off the board from there.

In the bottom of the second inning Eastland brought home two runners on a hit by Luis Ojeda to center field. Ojeda would be thrown out trying to reach second base, but the damage had already been done.

Eastland went on to take a 5-1 lead, and held off a rally by Merkel to pick up a 5-4 victory over the Badgers.

At the same time the Mavericks picked up a two game advantage over second place Merkel and Cisco.
