It was a great year from the very beginning for senior quarterback Trent Brittain. In the first game of the season, he had 340 total yards and a game high 5 touchdowns.

"It really is just a big team effort. Last year we had some injuries and the confidence went down, but this year as seniors we played together and we played well together."

That team effort not only had the Mavericks ranked #1 in Class 2A Division I, but Trent more than doubled his stats from last year. He had 3,459 passing yards, 1,017 rushing yards and 57 total touchdowns.

"Its just something Trent enjoys doing. He like playing. Trent goes out to practice everyday with a great attitude and works as hard as he can."

And its that attitude and those stats that give Trent Brittain the title of the Big Country MVP.

"Trent deserves it, but our team deserves it. Trent will be the first to tell you without of offensive line blocking, or receivers catching or our running backs running or our defense not stopping them, he doesnt have that chance."

This may be #4's end to his high school career, but hopefully not the end of his football playing days.

"I'm hoping to go play somewhere. I really dont have a preference. Hopefully a good school, but I'm open to try anything and see what I can do."

Trent Brittain, your Big Country High School Football Player of the Year.
