Fans on both sides lined up for a chance to get a seat at this Friday night's crosstown showdown. Fans of Cooper High, which will be the home team, purchased the available adult tickets on the west side of Shotwell Stadium. On the east side is the Abilene High Eagles.
The rivalry between school brings out hardcore fans such as Maurice Williams who graduated from Abilene High School in 1973.
"I'm confident that my team will win," Williams said. "They were off to a slow start, but this game will bring them back."
It's the same for Cooper High fans who saw a longer line for tickets this year than last.
"It's the crosstown showdown," Cooper High fan, Regina Branton said. "It's exciting and thrilling."
Advance adult tickets went on sale for $8 and students tickets for $4. Any tickets purchased after Monday night is available at the Athletic Office of the AISD Center located at 241 Pine St. The window is open Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. till noon.
Students can buy tickets from their school campuses.
Tickets are sold on Friday night for $10 if they are available.
